Zelensky: Ukrainian troops are advancing ‘quickly and forcefully’

The Ukrainian army has liberated dozens of communities in recent days as they advance further into southern and eastern areas once held by Russian occupiers, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his nightly address on Tuesday.

Zelensky said troops were advancing “quickly and forcefully” and that more areas of the Kherson, Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk regions were steadily being brought back under Kiev’s control.

He said that in the southern region of Kherson alone, eight settlements were retaken in recent hours.

“Our soldiers do not stop. And it’s only a matter of time before we drive the occupiers from our land,” Zelensky said.

Ukraine’s successes come as Moscow tries to project is power by annexing several regions that it doesn’t have control over.

The swift advance of Ukrainian troops is causing problems for Russian units at several front lines at once.

Russia had to recently withdraw thousands of troops to prevent encirclement by Ukrainian forces in the eastern town of Lyman.
