Zaev meets union representatives, says Government on workers’ side, social dialogue resumes

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met Wednesday with Federation of Trade Unions (SSM) president Darko Dimovski and presidents of several unions from the public sector – health, pharmacy and social protection, traffic and communications, and police.

Skopje, 7 July 2021 (MIA) – Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met Wednesday with Federation of Trade Unions (SSM) president Darko Dimovski and presidents of several unions from the public sector – health, pharmacy and social protection, traffic and communications, and police.

“The Government remains the main supporter of workers and we believe that unions are healthy for the country, balancing the regulation of workers’ rights in public institutions and the private sector,” said PM Zaev and added that the social dialogue would resume.

Interlocutors highlighted the positive environment regarding the launch of the negotiations on the signing of a new general collective agreement for public sector employees, with the need to reach the most favorable solutions related to the payment of the annual vacation bonus for all employees in the public sector.

The meeting also tackled the enhancement of measures against the informal economy, opening of new jobs and higher wages for all workers, both in the public and private sector, reads the press release.
