Skopje, 11 May 2022 (MIA) — Skopje’s Turkish Theater cast will perform “The Seagull” by Anton Chekhov at the Comedy Theater. The play will offer Macedonian subtitles.
According to theater director Nela Vitoshevikj, “The Seagull” is a tragicomedy on the transience of life, describing a series of unfortunate destinies and unrequited loves.
“We tried to go deep into the characters and make a contemporary version of ‘The Seagull,’ exploring two important topics: the generation gap and the consequences of unrequited love. We also highlighted the problem of how older generations play a role in shattering younger people’s dreams,” Vitoshevikj said.
According to playwright Viktorija Rangelova, Chekhov ends his plays without a final resolution but with “a secret that remains floating in the air until the stage lights go out.” mr/
