Stay committed to country’s European perspective, Schinas appeals to Zaev successors

I believe that the recent resignation of Zoran Zaev has not served the goal of stability we want in the region, European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas told the “Thessaloniki Summit” and appealed to Zaev’s successors to stay committed to the EU perspective, MIA reports from Athens.

Athens, 5 November 2021 (MIA) – I believe that the recent resignation of Zoran Zaev has not served the goal of stability we want in the region, European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas told the “Thessaloniki Summit” and appealed to Zaev’s successors to stay committed to the EU perspective, MIA reports from Athens.

“I sincerely hope, and I appeal from the Thessaloniki Summit, to Zoran’s successors to stay firmly committed to the European perspective of their country and the need for goodneighborliness with all neighbors,” said Schinas.

Referring to the European prospects of the Western Balkans, he voiced assurance it is an irreversible process and nations in the region should not lose this conviction.

Schinas added there are “other friends of these countries” that try to offer alternative geostrategic scenarios and perspectives while adding these countries “are not as sincere as Europe.”
