Róbert Spanó on Sofia verdicts: Any CoE member has to uphold European Court of Human Rights verdicts

The general principle is clear: every member state of the Council of Europe is bound by the CoE Convention to uphold the verdicts of the European Court of Human Rights, said ECoHR president Róbert Spanó in response to MIA's question about the 16 verdicts for Bulgaria’s violations of human rights and the Macedonian minority’s right of association as well as Deputy Assistant Secretary at US Department of State Gabriel Escobar’s statement that the US Ambassador to Sofia was working on addressing these issues.
