Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski was named the best men's player in 2021 at a FIFA awards ceremony on Monday.

Berlin, 18 January 2022 (dpa/MIA) — Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski was named the best men’s player in 2021 at a FIFA awards ceremony on Monday.

The forward beat Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to secure the award for the second consecutive year.

The Pole broke Gerd Muller’s long-standing single-season Bundesliga record with an unprecedented haul of 41 goals.

At the ceremony, Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel was honored as best coach, while Alexia Putellas of Barcelona took the award for best women’s player.
