Skopje, 15 October 2021 (MIA) – Citizens will be able to report voting rights violations on the free phone line 0800 54321 which will be operating from 7am to 7pm launched by the Ombudsman Office.
Moreover, all seven offices of the Ombudsman in Skopje, Bitola, Kichevo, Kumanovo, Strumica, Tetovo and Shtip will be open to the citizens in order to help them in the exercising and protecting their right to vote.
The Ombudsman will protect the rights of citizens by taking urgent measures for effective action by the competent authorities in the electoral process and other institutions that are required to ensure protection of their rights guaranteed, the Ombudsman Office said in a press release.
“The right to vote is constitutionally guaranteed as equal, universal, and direct, and is exercised at free elections by secret ballot and that no one should be held accountable for exercising this right. Violation of freedom of choice of voters and other violations of election law are considered as criminal acts,” press release reads.
Additionally, the Ombudsman urged all election stakeholders to abide by health safety protocols due to coronavirus pandemic.
