Skopje – Currently there are nine active wildfires in North Macedonia, but the situation is most serious in the Municipality of Staro Nagorichane, near the village of Drenak. Conditions are rapidly changing, but all resources have been mobilized and unless new fires break out, all existing ones should be put under control over the course of the day, Crisis Management Center (CMC) head Stojanche Angelov told MIA on Wednesday.
Delchevo – North Macedonia’s Army helicopters since Wednesday morning have been engaged in extinguishing the wildfire at the most critical point near Pasjak in the village of Nov Istevnik, Delchevo. Air support in extinguishing the large fire, which has been active for 48 hours on Sredna mountain, was necessary due to further spread of the fire and inability to localize and control it due to inaccessible terrain, dry grass and wind.
Kochani – The wildfire at the Kostin Dol mountain village near Kochani has been partly contained, but not yet under control.
Brussels – EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is calling for the United States to swiftly lift its wide-reaching coronavirus entry ban for arrivals from Europe.
Kabul – At least eight people died in an attack targeting the Kabul home of Afghanistan‘s acting defence minister, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
Kabul – The Taliban has claimed responsibility for last night’s car bomb attack in Kabul, and warned of more attacks against top Afghan government officials.
