Skopje – Women’s rights activists marched on Tuesday to mark International Women’s Day, demanding urgent adoption of the gender equality strategy, passing of a gender equality law, implementation of functional inspection services to prevent exploitation and discrimination of workers, and actinons with due diligence when it comes to victims of gender-based violence.

Skopje – Women’s rights activists marched on Tuesday to mark International Women’s Day, demanding urgent adoption of the gender equality strategy, passing of a gender equality law, implementation of functional inspection services to prevent exploitation and discrimination of workers, and actinons with due diligence when it comes to victims of gender-based violence.

Skopje – In honor of International Women’s Day, President Stevo Pendarovski said that gender equality is a precondition for a free, developed, democratic, just and open society. “Today, upon celebrating women’s fight for economic, political and social equality, as well as their achievements in multiple spheres, we should be reminded more than ever that this battle for equality and a dignified life is ongoing,” President Pendarovski said.

Skopje – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovana Trenchevska took part Tuesday at event “Different Stories, Joint Struggle”, hosted by the Government on occasion of 8 March – International Women’s Day. Women from all walks of life shared their personal and inspiring stories, demonstrating humanity and bravery to overcome challenges in life, the Government said in a press release.

Skopje – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani says proposals as to who will be appointed to serve as ambassadors to Bulgaria, Canada and the United Nations have been defined. Agnesa Rusi Popovska will be named North Macedonia’s ambassador to Bulgaria. Agron Buxhaku will serve as the country’s ambassador to Canada and Ljubomir Frchkoski will take up the post of the country’s ambassador to the United Nations, Osmani revealed in a Facebook post.

Skopje – Russian Ambassador Sergey Bazdnikin was summoned Monday to the Foreign Ministry, it was confirmed to MIA. Ambassador Bazdnikin was handed over a verbal note after the Russian embassy’s post saying it is reporting cases of Russophobia. Russia included North Macedonia in the list of enemy countries, the Ministry told MIA.
Skopje – We shouldn’t allow to miss this momentum, we need to accelerate the EU integration process and secure security and stability of both the region and Europe, Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj told Tuesday’s briefing with EU ambassadors, organized by the EU Delegation for discussions on the opening of accession negotiations with North Macedonia.

Skopje – Total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in January amounted to EUR 546 million, a 3.6 % increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was EUR 806,6 million, or 29.3 % more than the same period last year.
Skopje — We welcome the decision of some supermarket chains to keep the prices of bread at Mden 25 to 27, Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi wrote in a Facebook post. Minister Bekteshi called on all grocery stores to follow suit and stand in solidarity with citizens during difficult times.

Skopje – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski alongside Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi and Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi held a meeting on Tuesday with the European Investment Bank (EIB) delegation led by Vice-President Lilyana Pavlova. The commitment for continuation of the cooperation of the Government and the support of the European Investment Bank in terms of the implementation of several major projects in road and railway infrastructure, energy, digitalization, as well as green development was reaffirmed during the meeting, the Government said in a press release.
Skopje – North Macedonia’s Government at its 22nd session on Tuesday reviewed and adopted report on creating the 2022-2042 National Development Strategy and adopted the methodological framework of the 2022-2042 National Development Strategy, within the first phase of the project.
Skopje – At Tuesday’s government session, the World Bank’s portfolio for North Macedonia’s current period was presented, as well as the next stage of cooperation with this international financial institution.
Skopje – North Macedonia registered 340 new COVID-19 infections after 2,557 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, as well as 11 deaths and 526 recoveries, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

Former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych has called on head of state Volodymyr Zelensky to give up in the war against Russia. “You personally are obliged to stop the bloodshed and reach a peace agreement at any cost,” the pro-Moscow politician wrote in a message circulated by Russian state agency Ria Novosti on Tuesday.

Riga – Civilians must be able to evacuate safely from Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said. Ukraine needs “real humanitarian corridors that are fully respected,” Stoltenberg said in a press conference with Latvian President Egils Levits on Tuesday.

Brussels – The EU countries’ decision to green light the examination of the EU membership applications submitted by Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova opens a wide range of issues, both from political and technical point of view, MIA’s Brussels correspondent reports.
