IMF forecasts 4.2% economic growth and 3.9% inflation in 2022, pandemic to continue causing uncertainty

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), growth in North Macedonia is forecast to pick up from 4 percent in 2021 to 4.2 percent in 2022, driven mainly by strong domestic demand. IMF staff expect inflation to reach 3.9 percent on average in 2022, before stabilizing at around 2 percent in 2023 and thereafter, while the fiscal deficit to narrow to 4.3 percent of GDP in 2022, from 5.9 percent in 2021.
