Berlin, 12 September 2021 (dpa/MIA) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel is to travel to Serbia and Albania at the start of the week, government spokesman Steffen Seibert announced in Berlin.
Merkel is to meet Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade on Monday before meeting representatives of civil society from a range of Balkan states in the Serbian capital.
On Tuesday, Merkel travels to Tirana for talks with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. In Tirana she will also have discussions over lunch on regional cooperation with the heads of government of all six countries in the region.
Merkel is due to leave office after a general election later this month, in which she is not running for another term.
