EU missed chance to fix its credibility; country shouldn’t give up on its generational strategic goals: analysts
The year 2021 was a missed opportunity for the European Union (EU) to improve its credibility in the region and especially in North Macedonia, and consequently, it was a year of weakening the European Union's attractiveness for young generations. However, the new government in Bulgaria has a historic opportunity to lend a hand in building a bridge of trust and friendship. We have no right to give up on the set strategic goals, prolonging the date for the start of negotiations is not something new and unknown, and it cannot discourage and demotivate us. As far as reforms are concerned, we should understand them as our need, not a task that we’re working on for someone else.

Despite the recommendations of most EU member states to start accession talks with North Macedonia and Albania, the process is still stalled due to Bulgaria's veto, which insists on resolving problems with the Macedonian language as well as unresolved history issues between North Macedonia and Bulgaria.
