Leverkusen, Germany, 18 October 2021 (dpa/MIA) – Bayern Munich could be without explosive full back Alphonso Davies in Wednesday’s Champions League match at Benfica after he picked up an injury in the Bundesliga thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen.
“We hope luck is on his side,” coach Julian Nagelsmann said after the 5-1 win which returned Bayern to the top of the table.
“He had a light pain in his hamstring and we need to see if it’s better by Wednesday.”
Davies was substituted after 40 minutes and Nagelsmann said the initial report from the club doctor, prior to a full diagnosis, was the player might have avoided serious injury.
Bayern have already defeat Barcelona and Dynamo Kiev in Champions League Group E to sit two points clear of their Lisbon hosts Benfica after the first two rounds of the competition.
