Skopje, 13 September 2022 (MIA) – Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi gave Tuesday a video address at the annual GDi Solutions Day conference, saying it is already a traditional event where technological platforms, solutions and ways of improving business processes are presented and discussed.
“Digitization is the future of the world, that’s why, a year ago, we launched the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) geo-portal. It aims to increase the transparency of the work of the public sector and the availability of geospatial data to all citizens and the economy. By establishing this new geoportal, with just one click, we enable citizens, businesses as well as state institutions to access a multitude of geo-spatial data, which significantly facilitates and speeds up every process,” said Bytyqi.
With one click on the NSDI geo-portal, you can get the required information, you can see the cadastral lots, the hydrographic network, the road network, land use, buildings, geographical names, elevation model of the terrain, ortho-photo map, as well as other data.
Bytyqi informed that filling this portal is a challenge and a complex process, but not unattainable. There is already a large database on the NSDI portal, but it must be supplemented and constantly upgraded because it has numerous benefits.
“Taking into account the importance of spatial data in the daily operation of state institutions, in the era of digital or ‘smart’ society, the motivation and value of investments in this domain may often not be clearly emphasized. Often, the market value of data cannot be recognized until the time of implementation and use of the data. But I believe that everyone present today clearly understands that it is very valuable,” emphasized Bytyqi. dk/ik/
